In Response To: Mothergoat's Second Opinion of Halo 2 (mothergoat) Well the reason Halo 1 IMO did so well was cause it came almost from nowhere. Not once did I see a commercial for it before release, hell I didn't see one till about 2 months after release. I saw no ads in magazines, nothing. I found it from a friend and we followed the story till release then played to our hearts content. Halo 1 wasn't as publicised or hyped in anyway, unlike halo 2 which was shoved everwhere there was a blank(not insulting, i actually enjoyed this). I admit the game itself didn't have as much as halo 1 but think of halo 1 for a second. Halo 1 came out and it opened a new world, which by chance and accidentally, set a bar of standard of what to expect from the series. Halo 2, as many say, didn't live to that standard because they had seen some of the stuff before. But think of it, the world the game took place in couldn't change that quickly in such a short time so they ofcourse had to use some stuff over with adding abit if flavour to it. Halo 1 introduced us to what would be what I find, the greatest video game, if not story told by a game, of all time. Halo 2 in itself was the action bit that stepped passed the already done introductions and shoved you right into the action. Many people would have expected to take it slow like the first but I notice there aren't as many cutscenes as the first, thus adding more playtime and action. Personally I find the game to be amazing and I like to call it "the calm before the storm" and ofcourse that storm will be halo 3(We hope). So just sit tight guys and appreciate the game for what it is, sheer genious. May Bungie continue the series is up to them but for now I think we should be glad they gave us a sequel. Also nice read there MotherGoat, It pinned a few things I noticed as well
