In Response To: Re: Prometheus *OT* *SP* (General Battuta) This is Ridley's reply to a question about the effects of the goo on the boyfriend and on the scientst. The man at the beginning, the person at the beginning, if we are created by gods or monsters – there’s no gods, it’d be singular, there’d be one god, probably, because every religion today (which creates more problems for us today in the entire global system than any other single thing, is religion, right) they’re all actually worshiping one dude, really. I don’t give a damn whether it’s, y’know, muslim or you name it: it’s theoretically, in theory, one person. I believe that we were pre-visited. I think it’s entirely ridiculous to think that four billion years, nearly four billion…? Its a complete non-sequitur and a jumbled mess. But maybe that's the editing, maybe he was answering a different question. Source Nevertheless can you understand what he is saying? No wonder the film makes no sense. He also mentioned Mayan practices WRT to engineer who gave his life to seed the planet. (Can't find the link, was probably a video) There is no scientific need to sacrifice a person to seed a planet. That engineer died for a religious reason. Scott said that with the mayans your sacrifice gets all the best food, all the women, gold, etc for a year then has his heart cut out. So the seeding of earth was probably done for a religious reason. We also don't have to take the captain's speculation as fact. The goo may not be a weapon. It may be a terraforming agent...
