In Response To: Prometheus *OT* (Miguel Chavez) All the negative backlash got me genuinely interested in seeing it so I could see what the fuss was all about. Based on my first impressions, I can totally see where people are coming from. My first thought coming out of the theater was that the movie felt way too crowded. There was simply too much stuff going on and not enough breathing room for individual themes on their own. There's exploration of human origins, David's personhood and perspective of things, the relationship between the creator and the created, and then it tries to be a horror movie with the black goo and all these different monsters while simultaneously going back-and-forth on whether it's a direct Alien prequel or an alternate-universe take. There was material to fill two or three movies, maybe more, all crammed into one. This is why the movie goes way too fast - contrast this with the original Alien, which takes it time and centers around a single theme, which is the Alien itself hunting down the crew of the Nostromo. I like big ideas, but they should've reserved more time for each of those ideas rather than going fast-forward from one concept to another and offering no answers to the questions raised. On top of all that, as a lot of people have pointed out, the movie seems to fall apart about halfway through, when things just start happening and people don't react to them like they realistically should.
