In Response To: Re: My thoughts (Hawki) : -You make good points. However, the film was still a downer to me because : even leaving all the Engineer stuff in the dark, the plot points are never : given enough gravitas nor the characters. The 'Nostromo' crew was more : interesting than the 'Prometheus' crew, Roy's quest for life was given : more gravitas than Weyland...standing on its own, the film is incoherant. : Compared to R. Scott's other sci-fi films, and it feels even more of a : letdown, because he's done it so much better. Nailed it. There's lots of beautiful text being written about the beauty of this movie 'in theory' but the movie itself failed to deliver not even 30% of it. I just want to say, of course, that this is all my opinion. I give the rest of you folks props that can pull so much enjoyment out of this film. It just didn't do it for me. I remember when Wu had this big negative reaction to SW:3 RotS - along the lines of why make movies that you can't enjoy without requiring all this backstory (I think his example was Grievous) ahead of time. This is how I felt w/ Prometheous. Malakahhka?? Wut? Let me rephrase that actually: my reaction is "what an empty, rushed movie this is" and I guess if I had read up on all this stuff it would've filled in all the blanks. Maybe my reaction would've been different. - M
