In Response To: Re: Part 7 - Invasion Control gametype (ChrisTheeCrappy) : 2) I DON'T like the fact that you could have all 3 stations at Phase1 but : then the losing teams gets one at Phase 2. I feel like that would limit : people from taking 3 as other than making the game go quicker, there is no : advantage. Well really the other team already had that territory since it was their 'home base' in Phase 1. The advantage is denial of resources and spawn points. : 3) I don't like DMR's/BR's being a drop item. I like how Invasion Slayer
Only on Hemmorhage and to be honest Invasion Slayer is the MOST broken on that map because of it: there are no defence against Sniper Rifles. The DMRs and NR are given as almost free 'base' weapons in the first phase to prevent it being 100% pistols and ARs apart from the neutral territory stuff. Both Breakpoint and Boneyard feature DMR/NRs on map for both sides, while Spire offers 3 NR for Elite defenders. Of course from phase 2 onwards you can choose to spawn with them - then they will only be used as refils or for people who spawned with another loadout. : Suggestions: I would really like the idea of increasing the # of territories
: To go along with that, Phase 1 could only be on territory. That could be epic
I considered that actually - that phase 1 would only be a single neutral territory. However the problem with that is that if a team manages control all the territories in the later phases, everything that happened in the earlier phases is obliterated very quickly. E.G. Elites control the single territory in phase 1 solidly for 100s - 100 point lead. If Spartans gain control of all three territories in phase 2, that lead is obliterated in just 33s. In phase 3, control all five territories for just 20s and it's as if the first phase never happened! Now, maybe you could say thats OK because in Invasion the total time resets at each phase, but personally that always annoyed me a little anyway because you could be SOO close to holding them off in phase 1 but then everything was seemingly for naught and you're back on even terms - that annoys me a little about Rush sometimes too. Granted, you could probably fix this by making teams only score 1 point for how many MORE territories they control than the opposition. i.e. if Elites control 1 territory, and Spartans control 2, Spartans gain 1 point per second while the Elites gain none. Or of course, you could have a constant gain of points per second, divided by the number of territories. With 1-3-3 escalation that would mean you would earn 3 points per second for holding the Phase 1 territory, and one for each of the territories in Phase 2. It gets more complicated in 1-3-5 but must be doable (I'd need to think more.... 15 is a common multiple?) Let me know what you think.
