I distinctly remember in the PC version of Halo 1, : ducking behind the cliffs on Blood Gulch in the Banshee to recharge my : shields and then continuing the assault. Reach has the same thing, merely tempered by a couple of health thresholds. Perhaps the best solution with respect to this particular issue is to not impliment the banshee in MP as some sort of stupid glass cannon that either dominates or immediately falls apart. In its current form, it does little aside from contribute to the whole snowballing issue.
