No, it doesn't have to be Linear--but if you're letting captured areas function as spawn points, things would get really unfair in a nonlinear map if say, one team rushes a territory that's in a good position on the map and then uses that to easily respawn and reach the remaining territories, while the other team is stuck spawning at home. In short: I like the hill aspect of Invasion Slayer, but I think the weapon drops themselves are kind of lame.
