In Response To: Re: And Now For Something Completely Different. (PerseusSpartacus) : Actually, there's one thousand milliseconds to a second. The prefix 'Milli'
There are two levels of intellectual laziness at play here. The first is the unwillingness to reason this out based on other things I'm sure cb557 realizes start with "mill-" like millimeter (1000 of a meter) and millenium (1000 years). This level of intellectual laziness doesn't frustrate me as much, I guess because I see it so often I'm numb to it. The second level is the fact that cb557 is posting to this very forum from a device that can quickly access the entire shared knowledge of mankind(!), and, rather than taking the second or two it would take to type "millisecond" into a search engine in a new tab, the summary of the first result of which would inform him of the true duration, he guesses (wrong) and waits for someone to correct him. That's pretty inconsiderate to everyone here.
