As far as a definition of art, I'd say there has to be a clear-cut artist, who creates a piece of work through personal skill and ingenuity for the expressed purpose of it being able to be displayed to a person or experienced by a person, without regards to other functionalities (e.g., prepared food cannot be an artist because it tastes good; a computer cannot be art because it is well-built). Its purpose is to ignite or spark something within the mind of the audience, like wonderment, anger, etc., and through that feeling expose insight into the human condition. Can video games do that? Yeah. Narcogen seemed to tie the idea of the narrative or entertainment into the idea of art, which is what I was rebutting. The narrative is one dynamic that literature and film display. The narrative is not interactive and cannot be the secret to success, by itself, in a medium defined by interactivity.
