On the Relationship Between Halos and Flood *long* | |

In Response To: A little speculation *Spoilers* Part 1 (Dubble.utoo) I figured I'd try to do a catalogue of what we KNOW about both, and then try to speculate from there Facts Halos:
-They are an effective way of dealing with the flood -They do NOT kill by generating an explosion per se (they aren't HE or a nuke, at least not in the sense we think of such things) Flood:
-They are capable of higher functions (as long as their host was before infection), like the ability to drive, fly, operate weapons, etc. -They have a central intelligence (GM) -It is impossible (or was for the forerunners) to develop a biological weapon that specifically targets flood super cells Informed Speculaton Halos:
-They also kill non-self-sentient life, as if they did not kill combat/pure forms the flood would still have a significant presence in the ark-area -They either render biomass uninfectible or kill every flood down to infection forms-if they didn't, the flood would just be able to resurrect all the corpses after the firing, build another GM, and be back in business (personally I think it's the latter) Flood: -They have some instinctive abilities (they do not require a GM to function at all)-this is probably just an instinct to gravitate towards and disable/infect available biomass for expansion or the creation of a GM -They have some sort of near-instantaneous communication, possibly through GM-I'm thinking of them almost as one organism, with the GM as the brain -The GM is incredibly intelligent in many ways-he can plan tactically/strategically, prioritizing targets and deploying forces and so on and so forth, an also simply has a massive repository of knowledge. He also must be able to think about more faster than any mind we can comprehend, if one considers the logistical dilemmas raised by effectively commanding as much as he does at once. -It is likely that the 'memories' of the GM are contained within the flood super cell, and can be activated and incorporated into the developing intelligence when a GM forms, so that it is in reality a single mind and a single being. -It is possible that this would result in 'blank spots' in the flood's memory where there was no GM to gather memories. However, the fact that GM was 'talking' to MC on 04a in the control room where he was apparently not rebuilt yet indicates that he may just be a non-centralized mind spread throughout the bodies of the flood, whose control abilities are simply enhanced when he is an actual mass. The closest analogy to this that I can think of is the internet-it has no central location, but is simply spread among computers (flood bodies) So considering these things, what do the Halos do?
-Kills all self-sentient life
Well, there's my rather extensive two cents
