In Response To: Re: A little speculation *Spoilers* Part 1 (Dubble.utoo) : The Gravemind is described in the Art of Halo as, “literally built from the : bodies of its enemies and its own fallen warriors reassembled into a : massive, tentacled, and intelligent entity." : So; : Bodies = Biomass
: and : Gravemind = Accumulated Biomass
: and : Food -> Is Destroyed by the Array
: (^ Rofl) : It makes sense that the gravemind is killed by the array, but in that case.
Similar to what Stephen said, maybe this Gravemind is one and the same as the one that killed the Forerunner, or at least a kind of stage that Graveminds go through as they grow. Maybe the Flood are capable of containing their own memories within the supercells or infection forms, and by the act of imprisoning the Flood for future study, all the Forerunner did was delay the evolution of the Flood until it could eventually feed again. The biomass question reminds me of the old Halo videos they first released to promote the game. There was a lot of native wildlife on the Halo that never made it into the game. I think it was in the Making/History of Halo video that it showed the Chief riding on the back of some critter (which if my memory isn't too hazy, reminds me of one of the Flood forms in H3). Perhaps the reason why the Halos are relatively void of life in comparison to Earth is because the Flood was gathering them.
