In Response To: Re: A little speculation *Spoilers* Part 1 (scarab) : We all are :-) : The installations could have been restocked from the Ark. : Flood spores may be resistant. Most spores are pretty tough. Its their job
: Maybe the spores can convert plant life or infected animals to make them grow
: Think of Isolation. Its on the Ark so its likely that Flood was stored there.
: Of course this super infectivity presents us with problems. : Why didn't Flood reestablish itself on every planet where its hosts died? How
: Can biosystems adapt to the Flood and eventually kill it off? Not really. I think you're missing something :-)
Lets roll with these analogies for a sec. The galactic can of bug-spray kills all the insects in the galaxy. The fungi would have no means of growing, or movement and would effectively be halted, and starve to death, or go dormant. The flood, needing biomass as a structure to build upon, would be reduced to puddles of formless supercells, infection forms and a starving gravemind. Firing the Halo array would effectively 'rip the supports from the buildings.' I believe the gravemind to be one and the same as the gravemind from the flood-forerunner war as many times throughout Halo 2 and 3, he recites knowledge of the war, e.g ""I have beaten fleets of Thousands! Consumed a galaxy of flesh, and mind, and bone!"
