In Response To: Maybe true, but... (stan) : Our friend xMixMasterx suggested that "the [halo] explosion is big : enough to destroy everything within multiple radii of the galaxy." : We're not talking about a few truck bombs or even a massive : sweep-across-the-face-of-a-whole-world explosion. We're talking about an : explosion on a galatic scale. That'd mess most shit up pretty well. The Halos don't work by exploding. Any shock wave or electromagnetic pulse could not exceed the speed of light. That's too slow to be an effective weapon against an ememy with FTL comms and transports. It would take 25,000 years for the pulse to reach the limit of its range. From Terminal six: [00:H 00:M 00:S] Either the effect was instantaneous or the countdown was adjusted to take account of the pulse's travel time. But its unlikely that the battle was less than a few hundred light years from a ring. Even 100 light years gives 100 year travel time. From Terminal six: [07:H 36:M 41:S] The battle lasted a little over 7 and a half hours. I don't believe that the Array was activated 100s or thousands of years before the battle started. I don't believe that the battle happened within 8 light hours of an Array installation. Whatever the pulse is, its FTL. Also, the force of a spherical blast is inversely proportional to the square of the distance. A force that is strong enough to kill all sentients on a planet 25,000 light years away would be hugemoungous. Bigger than any supernova. There would be nothing left of 04, or Basis, or the Soell(?) system. An explosion doesn't have the selectivity of an Array activation. I believe that Sparky believed that a correct 04 activation would not damage the Ark.
