It removes the soul :P And anyway, there were plenty of forerunner who had massive roles, like the ones who indexed species-saving entire races from annihilation. And think about it, there are humans who aren't smart enough to care, so there probably were such forerunner ;-) WAIT A MINUTE! I've got it! There were such forerunner, and we descended from them! That's why humanity is such a chronic screwup!!
