In Response To: Re: Maybe true, but... (deadguy71) : That's a good point, and assuming that ships were using slipspace back then, : how would the blast affect ships in there? or would it? One of the Novels : had folks entering those isolated slipspace capsules for protection. I don't know how slipspace works but you'd think that the Halo effect has to work there as well. What's the point of a weapon that fails to kill enemy that is in transit? It sounds like a very large part of the Galaxy was infected and there were a LOT of slipspace capable ships in use. For instance from Terminal One: [2 hours] ago 12,423 small recreational vessels appeared inside [CE-10-2165-d's] orbital perimeter. Hidden within that vast swarm were seven massive freight carries. The smaller craft were employed as [ablative armor], allowing the carries to descend through the atmosphere; landing on top of major population centers. From Terminal Six: [09:H 45:M 18:S] There are litterally billions of ships involved in the battle between MB and OB. GM deployed tens of thousands of vessels against a single planet. His resources were huge. What are the odds that he waould have at least one or two in transit when the array was activated? The Forerunners would be able to see the problem as well as we do. So I think that the array 'pulse' must be effective in 'normal' slipspace. I assume that the Dyson Spheres are made from special sauce and are exempt from the Halo effect. : Perhaps that includes protection from the Halo? Might explain how humans
We survived because we were indexed and reseeded. Indexing causes extinction events to the non-sentient species on a planet where the sentients have been indexed. It also leaves the world 'empty' (I assume that mean empty of sentients). Sounds to me like they are taken away en masse to the Ark and are returned after the array activation. I don't know what causes the extinction events. Is it due to fires breaking out in cities after their inhabitants are taken? is the indexing process very destructive? How long did the indexed people stay at the Ark? Were they concious during that time? If great damage was done to their worlds then how did they reestablish industrial sized populations on their ravaged worlds? If no damage was done and they were only gone a few days then what caused the extinction events?
