You don't have to tell me. I once wrote an essay on why all handguns should be banned. : in canada Automatic weapons, large bore shotguns (like a 12gauge), and rifles
Good for Canada. We do that too for:
Many weapons are only allowed to have a magazine that can hold a certain amount of rounds. Some firearms must have a stock made a certain size out of a certain type of material. There are tons of laws that deal with gun construction and what you can and cannot add to your gun. : america has the most lax gun laws. One thing foreigners seem to forget about American government is that so many laws that are concerned with day to day activities differ from state to state. For example, I can own and transport my firearm all over the state of Arizona without any problem at all, I can wear it around all day as long as it is in plain sight. But as soon as I cross the California border, I am in possesion of a "riot shotgun" and can be promptly arrested for it. Individual states can vary quite a bit on several issues including age, open carry, registration, transportation, concealment...you name it. So its not really accurate or intelligent to say that all of America's gun laws are lax. Not to mention that cities, military bases ( where personal ownership is usually a decision of the base commander), trust lands, private establishments, National parks (you can bring a gun, but it must be disassembled [wtf?]), forests, indian reservations, state lands, and other such entities can set certain rules for guns within their own borders. Federal Firearm law (at least the currect 83,000 words of it) concerns itself mostly with commercial issues, interstate transportation, certain prohibited weapons (street sweepers, automatic weapons, illegal ammo, high explosives), determining people who are prohibited from ownership (ex-cons, illegal immigrants, mentally ill), arming the proper authorities, maintaining a fair network for dealers, and dealing with crimes against the nation as a whole. These are things that most national governments do in one form or another. : i
Apparently. Then again, what would I know about the issue, I'm just another knuckle-dragging rascist right-wing American inbred religious nut with a gun and a pickup truck and a big ol' confederate flag hangin' up in my garage.....Notice I don't knock Canadian domestic policy, the main reason being I'm not Canadian.
