In Response To: Re: Oh please, no. (scarab) I'd like to condense that post. Have different varieties of weapons and vehicles. They are sub-variants. An example would be the different varieties of the human pistol. They all look distinctive. There would be two varieties of health: recharging and health packs. Maybe armor has tweaks to denote the presence of a recharging health system. These could be distinctive tubes, lights, or modules attached to the armor. Let Bungie's creative types work their magic. Add health packs to Forge. The presence of a health pack on the map changes health type to health packs. Players' armor looks subtly different to reflect that it has or lacks regenerative health tech. Add a fall damage object to Forge. It could be a platform that you jump off to gauge the height. You would need to adjust when damage kicks in and when it removes shields, how much damage done with extra distance, when death occurs. Needs thought but, obviously, can be done. Maybe fall damage resistance could have a fictional explanation. Armor could have built in anti-grav generators. Not strong enough to fly with. It would be more like Brute jetpacks or Ghost A-G. Again: armor could be tweaked to denote the presence of A-G technology or health regeneration tech. Then all differences in: health, fall damage, weapons, and vehicles would simply become differences in specs — from a fiction standpoint. Do you suffer fall damage? Do you have an A-G unit fitted to your armor? Is your pistol oober? What pistol are you using? As a side thought: If you had an A-G unit that kicked in just before you hit ground then you would fall pretty fast near the end. It would take a degree of bravery to contemplate a long drop. Imagine if an overcharged PP shot could disable the A-G unit temporarily. This adds strategy and jeopardy into the equation.
