Adoption into Canon?

I think, in the quiet before E3, people were desperate to know anything about Halo 2 or its story that they wanted to believe there was something in there to find. Myself, if Bungie had gone along with the storyline in the Enkidu Terminals, I'd have been disappointed. Mostly w/r/t the Flood being so near Reach before MC gets near Halo.

I think he did capture that spirit quite well-- but the desire to ignore some of the evidence, like the ambiguous use of "fanfic" in the tags, was not because they wanted Enkidu to become canon, but because if Enkidu was canon, eventually it would lead to something else, some revelation about Halo 2 they could figure out.

I'm not trying to rip down the Terminals- they were great fun. But let's not go overboard in praising them, either, just because a few people have their noses out of joint because they feel betrayed. Those people are just taking this all too seriously-- that's all.

: Oh, and BTW. Don't count Enkidu out yet. All Bungie has to do is say,
: "Ok, this is now a part of the Halo timeline," for it to be so.

: Canon, so why not Enkidu? I would love to see an Enkidu egg somewhere in

That's one of the major problems with the SW universe, and I sincerely hope-- with all due respect to Steve-- that they don't do this. Of course, perhaps some kind of egg could be included without making this canon... and that would be cool.
