For starters I personally didn't read them and frankly have no intention to (not my thing). By all accounts the author did a great job and should be commended on his work.

That said many people didn't know it was fan fiction. Sorry to tell you this but not everyone looks at a site's source code. We aren't all "geeky" enough to start hunting down source codes and looking up related crap like that. I probably would have if I didn't first notice it during the busy E3 week and of course it ended so soon afterwords. But ask yourself why didn't they just say "hey here is some cool fan fiction". Why even give the impression that it was possibly real? Why not confirm it's status when it was brought up in the forums?

I'm not saying they had a malicious intent but they did intend to leave some doubt in people mind that it was mere fan fiction. If they didn't then why did I see so many posters here and at HBO that weren't sure?

And no it's not my fault that the true nature wasn't reveled from the start. It's the responsibility of the site director to approve what he places on his main site. It's just kind of sad that if Bungie does do something of this nature many people aren't going to simply play along and speculate but demand a real answer. I gave the benefit of the doubt once, I won't again.
