In Response To: Re: Enkidu flames and kudos HERE, please. (Miguel Chavez) : There's a big difference here. People who may have not been pleased either a)
I think your looking at this the wrong way. I am not looking at the situation as a whole. If I were I would need to take into account all the good that Enkidu has done. What I was focusing on was a specific aspect of it. An aspect that I felt was wrong. It's not uncommon to be unhappy with a portion of something but not all of it. For example I didn't like the Library level. Now if I said something negative about that does it mean I hate the entire game? No, I simply disliked that portion of it. : and then we have c) where folks decide to piss all over the good thoughts and
Did I "piss all over Enkidu" just because I didn't like a certain aspect of it and expressed that? No, I don't think so. Steve asked for opinions of it so I gave mine just as so many others here have. Just because mine didn't go along with everyone else's was it then wrong for me to give it? When I ask for reader feedback on my articles is it ruined just because I get negative feedback? : incessantly, : like - not stopping to think about it beyond their own experience of it (or
As I stated above I am referring to one aspect not it as a hole but following your line of logic would that mean everyone who gave it a positive review didn't think about the experiences of the few who weren't happy? It goes both ways Chavez. To simply attack my argument for being different then everyone else's isn't the way to go. : I know, as has been made painfully clear in the past, you stick to your guns
Actually I am not the type of person you described. I do change my mind quite often when presented with a good logical reason to do so. In this case I haven't seen one yet. As for my past I have changed my stance on somethings. Before I didn't recommend Halo PC because of all the problems it had. Now after CE and the HEK I do recommend people go get it. I even praised Gearbox for their work. That doesn't mean they didn't make mistakes in the past but in the end they came through. : But guess what Rams, if I thought something you did was wrong, or if in the
Nor is it all that important to me in the big scheme of things. In fact I would venture to say that I take the game less serious then 90% of the people here. I never attend lan party's or tournaments. I've never spent a single dime on my hobby (BGH). I have never met one single person from the Halo community and have no plans to. I don't even participate in serious Halo discussion, play the game more then a few times a year, or read the halo 2 updates. So yes I keep this in perspective, probably better then most. But within the importance I place on this Hobie I tend to speak out both good and bad on various subjects just as you and everyone else who posts here does. : You present several explanations, reasonings, etc., to explain why you feel
lol, thanks for the description of every message board out there. Yes these are all just a bunch of screens of text which is why you shouldn't assume someone else places more importance in it then you do. Some thought it was wonderful enough to
Some choose to express their true feelings on the subject which is what I did. Once again you almost seem to be saying it's wrong to disagree with the masses. I do realize that HBO is a like minded community but I tend to enjoy BGH's diversity a bit more. Where disagreeing will probably get you flamed but no one acts likes its wrong or evil to do so. The Blog I use to comment on things in the Halo community. If you read more of it you will see that I didn't just set it up to speak about this matter. I look at it like an editorial column, a place for me to give my take on different matters. Had I used it to praise this I doubt you would have an issue with it. As for the anonymous postings I am not sure what your referring to. I only posted here and at BGH about this matter and at both I use my Rams account. Once again I personally wasn't fooled by it because I never read it. I simply saw a matter I didn't agree with and spoke out. Last I checked you didn't have to have something happen to you for you to be upset by it. I was pretty pissed when I saw how our US troops were abusing the Iraqi prisoners but I wasn't the one being abused. : In the words of the pubescent chicks that hang out in the mall:
They still say that? Haven't hung out in a mall in years : Before I end this post, I'd like to go on record with this: I think Louis has
I agree. Louis has a ton of well earned respect. However if the Pope makes a mistake he should admit it, who he is and what he has done doesn't make him perfect. : I'm sure this episode has just completely tarnished HBO and Louis and from
: Yes, I'm being sarcastic. The issue isn't that it is ruined by it but rather that this isn't something that needs to happen again or with any frequency. : So keep making equations over what happened here with (stuff that I just
I don't recall saying anyone twisted my words. Sure people have misinterpreted some of what I have written but that happens in debates. Frankly I've done quite well in this debate and there would be no need for me to use tactics like you mentioned or lets say state the person takes the issue to seriously :P My position is doing quite well thank you but it's nice to know you care :). I think I have already convinced enough people what I said was true. Did I change anyone's mind? No but that was never the point. Remember the debate wasn't started by me but rather someone responding to my opinion on the matter. Yes I would like Louis to admit he made a mistake, he's not going to of course, but it would be the propper thing to do in this case I feel. : The problem is that he really didn't, even with all the examples you cite. Well if you read over it all you will see that he did at the very least "with hold information" thereby allowing the misconception to remain until the very end. Now you can think that's ok to do if you want but that is what happened. : The funny thing is, with all this, I'm really interested in hooking up with
I prefer to think of myself as a realist. Sometimes I am quite optimistic and others times I am not. Depends on the scenario. Despite what you most likely think of me I am a kind, caring, and loyal person. Just ask some of the BGH staff or pop by our chat if your ever really interested in knowing who I am. I wouldn't say they are a waste of time persay but it's rather expensive to travel to these events for me. Living in St. Louis California's not just a few hours away. At this point in my life I have better ways to spend my money. I don't have the luxury of a rich family. I grew up lower middle class and I have had to work for every cent I have. Most of that gets spent on my schooling, housing, food, gas, insurance, and the other necessity since I choose not to work during the school year. Maybe one day when I'm an old man like Louis I'll be able to. Although to be honest by then I would hope to have moved on. Ok well this is that last I'm going to say on the matter. I'm addicted to online debating for some strange reason. Someone needs to make a patch for it. |
