I searched for words myself but yours were better. I never said that Enkidu was the Cortana Letters for Halo 2. I was speaking only of the experience of those that participated in it, that the experience of Enkidu was similar to what people experienced when the Cortana Letters first came out.

There are those that can walk the walk and talk the talk because they made it through the "real deal" -- the Cortana Letters. However, there is a mass of many more that have never experienced that.

Nothing completely replaces the real deal, but you can come close, and that is very important. The human body and mind develop those parts that are used the most. Even a little stimulation is better than none and your mind and body remembers.

To experience something close to the Cortana Letters has stimulated parts of the Bungie community, and as a result, I think some have now experienced what real speculation and theory can be like and they are better prepared to participate at that level. I expect they now can contribute much more to speculation in the future and at a higher and more intelligent level.

What makes the die hard Bungie fan different from the new fan? Years of experience, that's it. What invisible silos do we build to say, I was here first and I did this and that and so you newbies can't possibly understand what it was like... New fans are the fans of the future too, they deserve just as much of a chance to experience all the great stuff that older fans did, but in their own way. You can't force them to learn, you can't expect them to appreciate it, all you can do is give them a chance and let them discover it for themselves.

Enkidu was an opportunity for that. Not the only opportunity, there will be others, but one that some took advantage of. Don't expect it to be anything more than it was, it was not the real deal, but it was close, and that does matter.
