You know, it's both amusing and disappointing that friends of mine of similar age and social status don't understand my affection for this community. I'm a college graduate, full-time worker, soon-to-be-husband, and all-around geek, but there's just something about this game and its fans that can't be mistaken for just another flame-choked, "I PWN3D j00!!1!"-type game-based forum. HBO is a community of (often fanatical) members who recognize the depth to which Bungie constructs their play environments. It is these efforts that elicit, nay, demand both the respect and attention of true gamers everywhere. I would say that most HBOers are not such because they like interacting with other mindless drones who enjoy blowing the crap out of any virtual enemy they come across, but because they enjoy the mental stimulation of interacting on a level akin to that experienced by members of a small, close-knit group with similar interests and tastes.

Here's the tie-in to the subject line above: the Enkidu Terminals™ proved tenfold all that I have said in this post. Checking the Enkidu main page like a raving lunatic, watching for Red Loser's summary posts to see what I'd missed, posting more in the past few weeks than I ever have before in this forum because I wanted to contribute, seeing Enkidu finally end and feeling nothing but amazement at Steve's achievement; all of these and many more are reasons why HBO is often the first site that I visit and the last that I leave when I'm on the 'net. I feel like I belong to this community because we all believe in one incontrovertible tru7h: Bungie's games rock and are worth every minute devoted to them. Period.

Gosh, I love this place.
