Wrong. (And incidentally, terrible analogy, as well) You are making unfounded accusations from a position of ignorance. How, may I ask, did you reach the conclusion that Enkidu "implied that it was real" without reading the Terminals? Could it have been hearsay? Because you know how well THAT holds up.

Regarding your President analogy: we judge the President based on his words and actions, as shown on various news outlets. A better analogy to your attitude would be for someone who has never bothered to read the newspaper nor watch the news, but has merely heard some people griping about Bush, to write a flammatory editorial about Bush's motivations in going to war with Iraq.

(Incidentally, I both oppose the war and will be voting for Kerry. But I reached those decision by reading up on the subject in detail and studying both candidates' positions on various issues, not by listening to local coffeeshop banter.)

Reaction dictates cause, eh? Faulty reasoning there- just because we, the fans, took it one way does not mean that it was necessarily MEANT that way.

In any case, my position remains thus: who cares if it was implied that Bungie was behind it? The lack of a clear, defined source helped make it seem that much more interesting, and spurred volumes of inspired research.

In this case, the presentation and the story are intimately linked. You cannot remove one without irreparably damaging the author's vision.

Also, the fact that the reaction here at HBO has been overwhelmingly positive would seem to belie your assertion that fan response would be suspicion and offense.
