Good catch, Jillybean! It's been so long since I wrote that speculation that I forgot about Cortana's broken speech. On the level Cortana in Halo 3, as you're walking down the hallway right before you rescue Cortana, I think she states an error code and her AI ID code number.

It's possible, but not likely, that she used the replication software to duplicate herself. The Gravemind might have been talking to a replicated (not a full copy) version of Cortana the whole time. Interesting!
