And when you look at Mendicant Bias and his words to the Chief via the Terminals (Terminal 7, Legendary to be precise), the part where he says: "But I would have my masters know that I have changed. And you shall be my example." If Iris is to be taken seriously in any way, shape, or form, then we have an example of Mendicant Bias communicating through us in the year 2007. It might not be "true canon," but it could be a pretext to an ability to play around with time. Assuming Mendicant Bias really did do something to throw the Chief back in time, why tell the Chief in the previous sentence that he'd do everything he could to make sure he gets out alive, only to send him back 100,000 years to his impending doom just to show the Forerunner that it will all work out in the end? Unfortunately, regardless of how neat the thought is, the whole time travel to the past bit doesn't seem to add up. It's still a great thought, but I don't know how feasible it is without there being even the slightest possible way for it to make sense.
