In Response To: My Theory on the Legendary Ending *kinda long* (Neloms) You know, at first when I was reading the theory and got to the part where you said he was sent back in time, I didn't even want to continue, but naturally I just had to, and I love the theory. It's plausible in so many ways (assuming Bungie actually pulled the time travel card), but there's also so many problems. When I look at what 343 Guilty Spark said to the Chief, making it sound like he was the one that activated the Array or at least one of the Installations, it's harder to make sense of because we know that Didact was the one to activate the Array from the Ark, and that 343 Guilty Spark had presumably never been to the Ark because he just thought it was like a Shield World Installation, but was clearly mistaken. So yeah, now the situation with how 343 Guilty Spark recognizes Master Chief makes even less sense and has become even harder to figure out. Why do I say this? Well, here's why I have to discount the travel to the past theory. Master Chief wouldn't have a need to take advice from 343 Guilty Spark in the past if he came from the future, especially considering he'd (probably) remember everything that had occurred in the "present." 343 Guilty Spark trying to kill him for not activating Installation 04, trying to kill Cortana, and then killing Sergeant Johnson and trying to kill Arbiter and himself. In other words, I don't see how any Chief-Guilty Spark connection makes sense at all if it was Didact who did the only activation of the rings. That or we're missing a part of this story, and they had someone on each ring and they all activated the rings at the same time, and Didact activated at the Ark to make sure that everything worked regardless (overkill, more or less). Honestly, I think the theory could hold if more things added up, and I still love the theory, but it doesn't look like it'd work. That or there's been tons of retconning between the novels, the first game, and the H3 Legendary ending. :P
