In Response To: ummm, maybe im wrong but... (ActiveCamoElite) : I always assumed when spark said "you" he ment : "forerunner". : as in, he was using "you" in a very general sense, he was refering
: or maybe not, thats just what i always thought. Well the theory that Guilty Spark is referring to all of Humanity as "you" does hold up for two of the quotes: "Why would you hesitate to do what you have already done?" and
In the first "you" could refer to Humanity or the forerunner, if Guilty Spark sees the Chief as Forerunner. In the Second "our" can refer to Guilty Spark as well as humanity. That makes perfect sense. However, this quote, "you" almost definitely is referring to the Chief personally: "Last time, you asked me, if it was my choice, would I do it?" It's very unlikely that all of Humanity or the forerunners as a whole asked Guilty Spark if it was his choice would he do it. The you in this sentence is almost definitely personal, implying that the Chief asked Guilty Spark this question directly. Also, the chief having no recollection of meeting Guilty Spark makes perfect sense. The Chief personally hasn't met him in the past up until this point in history since he had not yet gone back into the past. The Chief's personal experience is the following:
Guilty Spark recalls the Chief in the past since he was there in the past. The Chief does not recall Guilty Spark in the past since he was not yet in the past. The Chief in the past is at the end of his personal time line, not before he travelled to the first Halo in 2552. God, time travel IS confusing >.<.
