You can't analyze just that scene and ignore Miranda's actions throughout the rest of the game, and the rest of her actions disprove her being the "damsel in distress". Her father is no damsel in distress, and he shows certain characteristics that could be construed to fitting that archetype as well. Hell, I could write a paper about his rescue that would relate his rescue by the hero MC as a homosexual love affair, but I wouldn't, because even though the evidence would fit, it would miss the mark. That's what this description is doing, construing and rationalizing certain pieces to force her into a mold that she just doesn't fit. Even so, if they really meant to symbolize rape than I believe that it is completely misplaced and misguided in the confines of the game.
