In Response To: Back up a second... (Hawaiian Pig) For the most part, I completely agree. A few random thoughts: 1. MS can definitely do what they please with the IP. I think it's in their best interest (in most cases) to have Bungie on board, but at the end of the day, they rule the roost, and what they say goes. 2. Bungie may not be Halo, but I definitely think Halo IS Bungie. How another studio could be allowed to make a game (I don't care if it's Peter Jackson or Saint Peter) in the Halo series is beyond me. I'm just optimistic enough to think that maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised, but like the movie...I doubt it. We'll see. 3. Ok, the RTS thing. It's like this: I LOVED the Age of Empires games, and I've played a few more like them since. One of my favorites was the AOE Star Wars version. You got to see cool little Star Wars dudes doing the same crap that your vikings usually did, and with cooler weapons. Still, it's a RTS. It's fun, but to me, it's not Halo, and never will be. It's a RTS with little Halo critters duking it out on the screen. I mean...ya. I'm not concerned about that game at all, because to me it's a non-issue. RTS...*chuckles* 4. RTS games always have awesome trailers that make me think, "Dear lord why couldn't the real game be this cool!!?" *Duke frownes in general direction of RTS* 5. I'm putting on my Uber Cloak Of Jadedness for this next comment. So here it is: Do any of you truly believe that what the 'fanbase' thinks about this stuff matters one tiny whit? I mean really. Microsoft could hire a renegade group of ferrets to program 'Pac-Man: Halo Edition', and sure, maybe no-one would buy it that visits HBO, but you can't deny that ten billion youngsters would all demand that mommy and daddy plunk down a few bucks for PackHaloMan. You know it would happen. Halo is a cash cow, and MS is going to continue to ride Bessy as long as she keeps tottering along. 6. When it's all said and done...these are games. Get a cup of coffee, and then go out on your front porch and get some fresh air. :) JH | |
