It's fairly close to a first person : perspective, but not quite. The characters in the game talk to YOU, and in : a sense, you're playing a character in the game much like you would be by : playing the master chief by first person. : Starcraft has got to be less than 10 bucks now, and ran on my 60mhz Powermac, : so it'll work on pretty much any computer. There's even an OS X version : available. Since you admit to never playing an RTS game, I suggest : checking it out to get a sense of the storytelling possibilites for RTS : games, and then perhaps you then might share my optimism that a Halo RTS : could have an engaging story. I agree with Mr. Miller here, and second his suggestion to get Starcraft. I'd also point out that another great series you could look into would be the Command and Conquer series, particlarly Tiberium Sun and Red Alert 2. Both of these games have fairly involving stories that are interesting and unique, though at times they can get rather cheesy. As an added bonus, Tiberium Sun has Kane, the coolest RTS villain of all time :P
