In Response To: Re: Best Line of the Whole Debate (Lurono) I agree that the purpose of the later books is to tell quite different stories and not to provide an adrenaline rush (if they were supposed to provide it, they whiffed big time ;). My point is that Halo to me IS an adrenaline rush. All of the games provided it, Nylund's books provided it, the ones after that just don't (The Cole Protocol came the closest of the next five novels). But there is just no getting around the fact that the formula for what makes a Halo book has changed since Nylund's era. I have enjoyed sampling the new flavors and directions, but I do miss what started it all. It's like someone else trying to make a favorite dish that your family always cooked - it's good, but not the same.
