I hate myself : for saying it, because I've followed most of his stuff (Including Dr. : Horrible - Awesome) but he was written as a caring guy, as he is portrayed : in the major TV shows he's been in. His past characters are definitely not : ODSTs, and they didn't channel enough pissed-off Mal to make a veteran : realistic. : Dare just had the ONI label slapped onto her armour. I think they got caught : up in trying to make her likeable, and missed the point of Noir female : characters. They're meant to keep the audience guessing about their : motivations and whether or not they're going to kick the lead character in : the nuts. Agreed. This is my rewrite of Dare, which also rewrites how the story progressed. Probably going to be long:) Game start: Dare has intel, Buck wants to know why he's sending his guys into a situation blind. Dare tells him it's classified. Buck lets the others know that he doesn't trust her or ONI. Says that they have to follow orders so stay alive. Right away you establish soldier versus Intelligence agency. Use Dare as the enemy of the piece, even though she isn't. Just doing her job. They drop, they get separated and the Rookie begins his search for his team. With every flashback we play through, Dare is featured in some way. Possibly using the giant screens around the hub to show video footage of Dare at another location. Leading us to think that she has set up the ODST's as a distraction from what she is doing. Which probably would be true, send in the team to create enough noise to lure away the Covies from where she needs to be. In this we are trying to find out what she knows and why we are playing the game. Dare really could have been the mystery of the whole piece. And kept our attention as well to what clues she left behind, items from ONI with further information. Would have complimented Sadie's Story. The love story element? Underplay it. Use the relationship as a further way to mistrust ONI with Buck and Dare throwing around cheapshots about their respective organizations. Subtext being about them. After the reveal of the Engineer, have the kiss as a way for two people to reconcile their differences knowing that they may die in the next part of the game. Not the blossoming of a potential love connection, just a mature way to say sorry. In this way, you are moving their story and serving the action to come. Because the hardened veteran they claim Buck is wouldn't have bothered with all that crap after what he's been through. Besides, isn't there a pleasure planet? Wait, that's Star Trek... Enough. Going to bed before I start comparing Johnson to Mr.T. -Hedge.
