It isn't just a "Woops I forgot about that" moment. There : is reasoning behind it, we just don't know it yet. Bungie is run by humans. And humans tend not to live up to expectations. They were most likely working to a priority system. 1) Get a workable Expansion to Halo 3 up and running. 2) Make it fit in between Halo 2 and 3. 3) Publicise the crap out of it. 4) Invite as many Sci Fi stars in as possible, and base all characters off previous characters they have played, so as not to stress the writers. You know, with actual writing. 5) Make it plausible. Wait, I forgot "Make loads of money" - I imagine that'd be up the top. I'm being cynical. It just appears to me that the writing has suffered since they tried to "Flesh out" the story through Halo 2. Just by looking at the Slipspace travel, there are sooooo many inconsistencies. I wonder, twenty years down the track, will the "Franchise rebooting" fad hit video games/Halo? Somewhere after Master Chief Bakes A Cake and Cortana's spin-off containing random minigames on a nintendo platform...
