In Response To: Re: Clarification. Slight Extrapolation. Expansion (Silent Knight) : I think I was spoiled by Battlestar Galactica. When I think gritty, I think : of that series. Or of old-school Hard-Boiled Detective stories. To be clear by "'gritty,' shall we say", I meant things your mom might not want to hear you saying. There's a pair of lines between Buck and one of the others that comes to mind, as well as the infamous comment about a woman with... courage, and the Grunt combat dialogue that a lot of people were mentioning a few weeks ago. Joe Staten was right when he said they don't really have much "coarse language" (or whatever phrase he used) in the Halo games but I'm pretty sure it's increased a little bit with each game, thereby getting more realistic. As for the detective story thing, they said they were going for something like that and I suspect it was made much harder by having the main character never speak.
