In Response To: Re: Oh yeah... (Louis Wu) : See, it's bullshit like this that makes it hard for me to take you seriously. : You were never promised one for Halo 3. Early on, during development, someone
http://forums.bungie.org/halo/archive29.pl?read=858878 That's the thread where this was thoroughly discussed. To your credit, the feature itself wasn't explicitly promised (ie, "Halo 3 WILL have a custom games browser"), but I think the wording used doesn't necessarily suggest that the feature was a remote possibility (ie, "We're thinking about the beginning development of some sort of custom games browser dealy. In the unlikely event that the right stars align, we'll think about it some more. Don't get your hopes up"). My biggest gripe with the absence of this system in the game has to do with Bungie's secretive nature. They made a very forced effort of not announcing anything until they were absolutely certain it was in the game. There were no "Well this feature that we announced didn't really work out, so we had to cut it" moments during development. Obviously, this was done to avoid overpromise and shattered expectations. So when they do announce a feature, I fully expect it to be in the game. And when it doesn't show up I feel more cheated than I would have had the entire development cycle been more open and littered with publicly announced cuts. : Don't be that guy who says "she promised me sex" because she
That's a very wrong analogy to use. A more appropriate one would be me being the guy who says "I thought she wanted to fuck" because she was going on about all the freaky, nasty things she would do to me and that I should buy a pack of rubbers and call in sick to work the next day.
