To CT-One could argue that the books are more canon than the games. Only thing I even see anyone complaining about story-wise is Contact Harvest, even though there are reasons and answers for every criticism people try to come up with against it. (For example: Why Brutes? Obviously, because the Prophets didn't trust the Elites at all, especially when they thought they had discovered a new Oracle. So they sent a Brute ship to see what they could see. It got beaten-so the Elites came in and killed the snit out of Harvest. Lays the groundwork for the future betrayal against the Elites, explains why Tartarus is in such good standing with Truth, etc.) As for your questions: Your first question....if you're asking why it was premature, that's because Regret is impatient, militant, and not one to stategize. In CH he's the only Prophet who pulls out a Plasma Pistol and suggests the future Truth and he kill the current heirarchs. He's put down, but it's still his personality. He knew that Earth was relegated as this Forerunner sanctuary, and he wanted to be there first, so he didn't wait for the rest of the fleet. He also gets drunk, but that's another story. If you're asking why they didn't expect humans, well, because when they learned of the Ark from Guilty Spark, I'm pretty sure he didn't try to make the distinction that not only was it the place where the Prophets could go to be safe from the rings, it also happened to be the home world of the Reclaimers. Or maybe even he didn't know. Your second question is answered pretty well earlier. The presence is Mendicant Bias, who is on the Forerunner ship and wants nothing else but to return to the Ark and make pentinence for his crimes, assumedly by activating the rings. Your third question is one to ponder, but I really don't think it's that big of a mystery. I think Guilty Spark is insane. That's all.
