The troop carrier in Halo 2 and Halo 3 is called a "Phantom". The Scarab is a much larger 4 footed monstrosity that can only be defeated by destroying the power core in the rear end. Your first encounter with a Scarab is in the 4th level: "The Storm". ;)

I'm truly sorry you have been so frustrated with Halo 3. I wish you the best of luck in manipulating the newer AI into coming to the slaughter you have carefully prepared over many hours of game-play, Megabattle style.

Response to the remainder of the thread posters:

On (solo) Legendary, I take out the window pane (located higher up) sniper first, duck back, and then deal with the rooftop sniper. I then take out the annoyance of a carbine wielding joke of a jackal on the rooftop below me, and then finally deal with the jackal on top of the first building you enter to cross the bridge.

I am still annoyed by the grunt ghosts on solo legendary, on the storm, where the AA and normal wraith appear. While I can bypass the level without much frustration, the fact that they usually run up the ramp by the center building in pairs makes things a bit difficult.

My biggest frustration, and enjoyment, comes from the room in Crow's nest where you encounter multiple brute shot captains, carbine wielding brutes, all backed up by a hammer cheiftain. The sheer amount of enemies, AI, and lack of ANY assistance is the closest I have come in campaign to playing multiplayer against reasonably (level 35 or above) skilled opponents. That particular sequence has been REALLY fun to play with multiple skulls on once I get over the frustration of having to step up my "game" considerably to move forward.
