In Response To: Re: Sierra 117 ruined by snipers (Sir J3lunt) That particular post of mine was a bit overstated, I'll give you that much; see some replies I made elsewhere to try to quell the general kerfuffle that followed (you're a bit of a latecomer but never mind). : I really feel like you sometimes seeming arbitrarily choose what to like and dislike. Dang... rumbled! Well, no not really. Hasty forum posts aside, I'm at pains to take a lot of care with what I write and there's no lottery involved, honest. : Were this H1, you would you probably be talking about how tense it is. Tentatively edging forward to try and catch the wily sniper before he catches you.... only to get shot and have to excitedly run back to cover to recharge your shields. If H1 had had snipers like in H3, would I be such a Halo fan? I'd probably take snipers for granted as part of the game, but I really doubt I would've been a fan of the sniper sections. They would've presented the same frustrations as they do to me here; my gameplay tastes aren't simply based on what appeared in H1. Possibly I would've picked them out as one of the most annoying aspects; and I DID have annoyances with H1, some of which I detailed at my site. : Also, on heroic, there are not one shot sniper kills. I hadn't tried to check, but I guess I could get a better idea about that by deliberately letting snipers take a shot at my head and seeing if I ever go down in one go. But even if they never kill with one shot, you can easily be on the verge of death, which in practice can mean curtains if any other bit of damage comes in - possibly a grazing shot as you try to back off. It's not so much the one-shot kill that's the critical matter, it's the sudden extreme damage.
