In Response To: Solution. (Phoenix_9286) Ok I reckon I've got things nicely sorted now in regard to the Jackals in the final area, on Heroic. I varied things a bit from your suggestions and eventually honed two patterns of play, each of which seems to work fine. Just for the record, here they are in detail, assuming you're carrying a sniper rifle and BR. High method: Stay up high when the cutscene is done with. With your back against the right wall, crouch and edge along with a zoomed sniper rifle, scanning for the distant walkway Jackal who's probably just strolling casually, and get him as he comes into view. In doing this you should be safe all other Jackals, in particular the carbine Jackal below (who can sometimes get you if you don't crouch). Back off, switch to the BR and get the carbine Jackal below without going far forward, again staying safe from other Jackals. Move to the left wall and edge along to get the perched carbine Jackal on the right. Switch back to the right wall and edge along with the sniper rifle, checking for the jail roof Jackal. There's a small gap between the cliff and tree, through which you can safely see about half the roof, but you might have to go further. Snipe him as he comes into view. You should be fairly safe from enemies below during that operation. Actually, the Arbiter will probably be busy getting himself shot at, which can be a handy distraction. Low method: Run down below (briefly in view of the beam rifle guys but it seems to be ok). Kill the sleeping Grunts in the right fork of the cave, then go into the left fork and kill the carbine Jackal on the roof; BR will do. You can then often get a glimpse of the jail roof Jackal and snipe him. Moving forward, you can also scan along to snipe the distant walkway Jackal. Nearby enemies can be safely dealt with from within the caves. When they're no longer a threat, get any of the beam rifle guys you didn't get earlier. The remaining carbine Jackal is easy. I'm not a big fan of such closely defined pattern-play like in these methods but it does get the job done, and pretty fast too now I've got the routines down. There should be much less chance of getting zapped in future! Thanks for the constructive words, and I guess Sierra 117 is still my favourite level. My original post was a bit overblown but I was angry after a fresh zapping. I notice that on Normal there actually seem to be NO beam rifle guys in the level. I was thinking that maybe folk who hate beam rifle Jackals could use Normal but raise the difficulty by using a skull to make enemies harder to tackle, to compensate. However, on Normal you don't get Brute shots or carbines until quite far into the level, and there are considerably fewer enemies. So I doubt I'm going to be interested in that idea after all. : In addition, there's an extension of the cave off to your immediate left. You're out of cover for all of 2 seconds. You were talking about that 'left fork' I mentioned right? That was the one bit of your message that flummoxed me to begin with - because from up on the ledge I couldn't see anywhere 'left' to go.
