Unfortunately there's only one approach that works with snipers. Memorize their locations and remove them first. Far right, on the platform above the entrance to the plant. Far left, on top of the building the marines are in. High center-left, in one of the windows high above the playing area. That said, on the subject of snipers and memorization: The process of playing almost any game is actually pattern recognition. Once you know where things are and what will happen, you adjust. Sometimes enemies are not so numerous or dangerous that failure to immediately recognize a pattern results in death. Sometimes it does, as with snipers. Although I think in H3 only a headshot results in instant death. Then again, you ARE standing out in the open on a high ledge. You're a target. Your instincts are the same as mine-- use long range weapons to clear out as many visible enemies before stepping off the ledge. That's natural. I think the snipers are there not to kill you, but to encourage you to enter the encounter-- the broken building below where the grunts are provides cover from the snipers. I really don't think Bungie planned on letting players stay on that ledge very long. If you do, you'll eventually be tempted to backtrack for weapons and ammo-- only to discover you can't because Bungie changed the geometry on you, closing the flare-lit tunnel you used to enter the area!
