In Response To: Dumbass boss battle? *sp* (Rockslider) I zapped him twice in a row with the splazer at one of the shield towers. It had no descernable effect. I didn't even get a pithy comment from him. He didn't seem to notice that I had done it. (I checked the saved game. I did hit him both times.) The fight is a bit lame but there only seem to have been two choices: lame or impossible. Sparky can legitamitely do most of the things that a Boss can. He can teleport, he could have legions of minions to harass you, he can fly to places you can't reach. He's invulnerable to all known weapons (until the final battle). He's also very small and nippy. And the room's geometry is against you. (unguarded drops everywhere) We don't fight Sparky for the battle's sake. We fight him because the story needed a kick. We needed to lose something of consequence. We lost Miranda (big deal), and we lost Johnson (ha! as if Captain Scarlet could die :-) ) The second reason for the fight is that we've all wanted to get him since the original Halo. So I'm in two minds about it. On one hand the battle is a bit lame and Halo is a game based on battling. OTOH we get the kick from Sarge's death and we get to splat Sparky. What contortions would Bungie have had to make in order to make that battle epic? Could it have been done? Did they run out of energy, time, or interest? I think that Bungie will move onto something fresh now and that's probably a good thing. I bet that they'll be glad to make a game where they don't have to explain how the Flood and the Halos work ;-) -PS In case the above sounded negative... I'm really enjoying this game.
