In Response To: Re: Sierra 117 ruined by snipers (Narcogen) : I think the snipers are there not to kill you, but to encourage you to enter : the encounter-- the broken building below where the grunts are provides : cover from the snipers. Ok Narcogen, I experimented with the idea of jumping down into the mix, on Heroic. Jumping down into the building was way too nasty and I quickly abandoned that. I got decent results as follows, though I consider it significantly more dangerous that the other two methods (the high method seems best to me). Jumping down method: Once the cutscene ends and you've got a reticle, lob a plasma grenade to hopefully tag or land near the Brute by the broken bridge, then jump down with BR in hand, killing the nearby carbine Jackal as you go (with BR or plasma grenade). Hopefully all this took the enemy by surprise. Land near the yellow transporter so you'll be sheltered from the beam rifle guys. Get the other carbine Jackal quick. Within a few seconds you'll have a few Grunts and possibly more to deal with, but it's not so bad if everything went well so far. When you've got an opening, switch to the sniper rifle. Still by the transporter, you're just able to see the distant walkway Jackal and snipe him (unless he's out of view to the right which sometimes happens - but if so, leave him for later). He doesn't seem able to get you, even though it seems like your head would be visible to him. Next, edge left with the rifle zoomed, and snipe the roof jackal as he comes into view. Hey, also had a good bit of fun later. You know when the Scarab comes in near the jail? After getting the gunner, I was timing grenades to take out the dropped waves of troops, one after another. Gets pretty funny. Sending the two carbine jackals flying out into the water was particularly satisfying.
