In Response To: Halo Machinima now illegal? (Laird) This isn't good. I can understand some of those rules, but certainly not all. Ripping the music without permission or ripping a model and using it elsewhere is a pretty clear violation, I don't think anyone thought otherwise before. But Gameplay Footage? Excuse my ignorance but F that. For years I've been asked about FTC and machinima and what the copyright situation was on the video content, especially since our videos contained elements accessible only through modding. I've always said I have no expertise on the subject but would love to see a Game Publisher argue that they owned MY gameplay footage. I guess now we'll see.
