In Response To: Re: Halo Machinima now illegal? (Laird) : Yeah, my question is "entering contests" Normally people enter : "halo machinima" into the machinima arts and sciences awards in : NYC. We don't win any money or anything like that, just a small mackie : award. That's what kinda bugs me about "not entering it into any kind : of contest." Hmm. Contests where you don't earn anything seem to be a gray area. It says : "You can’t sell or otherwise earn anything from your Items. ... That means you can’t ... use it to enter a contest or sweepstakes." I'm not sure whether winning an award (but no money) counts as "earning anything" so you could at least argue that "use it to enter a contest or sweepstakes" is supposed to clarify "earn anything" and that therefore it would only apply to contests or sweepstakes where you DO earn something. I'm not sure.
