The arguments might be flawed or old, but the fact is this is a respected (Ziff Davis subidiary) publication criticising a game they so highly rated back in November. I may not have read them (if so, please do correct me) but I'm not aware of any really high-profile critiques of Halo 2's multiplayer. Sure, there's 7hr33.org's very well-written treatise, but they're independent fans, not a publisher.

I'd be interested to hear just how wrong 1UP are; based on Louis Wu's front-page comments, it seems the arguments may have been critically flawed (it's been so long since I played Halo 2, and MP worked so infrequently that I can't honestly say one way or another, although casual empirical evidence suggests I'd be inclined to agree), but I'd like to hear the reasons in black and white.

Certainly from my own experiences, I can't disagree with the opening gambit: "Halo: Combat Evolved was a better designed, balanced, and tuned multiplayer experience than its sequel."
