In Response To: On reprogramming the Flood- LONG (Morgalad) Gravemind's new partner ? Cortana has always been a step or two ahead of John - who knows her real intentions on remaining behind ? She's also demonstrated (at least by strict definition) the ability to deceive: After inciting MC to deliberately set off the Autumn's fusion reactors, she informs Foehammer that 'the engines must have sustained more damage than we'd thought.' Hmm. Also interesting is her brief description of an 'unusually strong Covenant construct' present in High Charity's system at the end of Halo 2. This means there is now a triumvirate of intelligent, virtually invulnberable beings all (effectively) stuck there; each with its own interests and forces to call into action. I see it as more of a virtual chess battle, or possible final rescue mission gone wrong after all is sewn up on Earth. Chief may have to terminate Cortana on his final mission. One last dead hero.
