In Response To: Cortana the immortal one (UrsusArctos) I write this as someone who's played an incalculable amount of Halo(s), yet never read the books. (Go figure) Anyway, I don't know if this was an intentionally engineered aspect, but I just never trusted Cortana. She's simply not human. There was always this uneasy feeling of "should I trust her..." Coupled with following her advice equalling instant death in many Legendary situations. Even having completely abandoned any hope of Guilty Spark's ingenuousness (after he expressed sympathetic feelings toward Flood), I still felt torn when Cortana confronted him. I didn't know whom to believe. She just...cares too much for a construct. Takes it all too personally. It feels like a front. The "us" in the tunnels on Earth in H2 confirmed my feelings. She's not one of us. Wants us to believe it, but, I just can't. And then the end of Halo 2... Well, that sealed it for me. We may never see the smiling Cortana again. "Promises to a girl...." Woof. Nasty
