In Response To: Halo 2 Matchmaking: Setting a precedent (nof) I agree. Well said!
During a discussion in a halo group at myspace.com someone based their opinion of what a friend of mine said because *ahem* his rank was low... "although your rank is low, I agree with you" wtf does your rank have to do with anything other than your win/loss record and the number of games you've played on live... If I've only played 12 games on live and only won 3 does that mean I suck? what if aside from playing on live, I've played 300 games over the last 2.5 months and won 206, placed 2nd in 74 and come in "other" 20 times? do I suck then? These are my stats from Bungie.net (currently)
so, I've played a total of 151 ranked games via live and 54 are "wins", but am I any worse than the guy that has 200-300 games in EACH game type? I think the ranking system should be invisible, it would eliminate the need to cheat or maybe have brackets instead of individual ranks... I've not played as much on live as I thought I would when I first bought Halo 2, primarily because of 2 things. Annoying Children (why is there a kid that sounds like a 12yr old on live at 2am Pacific time? on a Wednesday?) And the ranking BS. In order to get hooked up with arranged games we need friends on our friends list, but to get them you either A, need people you know away from live with memberships, or B, play ranked games and invite people a lot. I don't know (real life) people that have live accounts, and I don't have the time or motivation to play enough ranked games to have enough friends on my list to be able to join arranged games regularly. [gotta go back to work, have a great day!]
