In Response To: Re: Halo 2 Matchmaking: Setting a precedent (Ducain) : Man, what a great post. Kudos to you man. That sums up my feeling exactly,
: I personally don't like the whole rank setup at all. At a lan, we would have
: This (nof's argument) has really been what's kept me from logging on to XBL
: Hm, I didn't intend to type that much. Short version: ditto what nof said. ;) : JH < I guess I just don't see this way of thinking. I mean, if you see people on XBL whom you want to play with, why not just play with them? If they are REALLY concerned about their rank, then play unranked games with them (custom or training). If they are SO concerned about their rank that they are unwilling to play unranked games, well, they're sort of jerks. (After all, there's a REASON it's called Team TRAINING: it's training so that you get better in ranked games). (Also, unless you are more than 5 ranks lower than them, the Matchmaking system will take into account the AVERAGE of the team's rank, thus your presence might allow them to play against people who are lower rnaked than they are.) To me, that simulates the LAN experience you were talking about perfectly, except that everyone gets their own TV, and you have a vast pool of anonymous other people to play against if you all want to be on the same team. -Sep7imus is now repeating himself (himself). |
