In Response To: Re: Halo 2 Matchmaking: Setting a precedent (Captain Spark) : Does anyone just play for fun anymore...... Yes. I like my rank and try to protect and improve it when I can, but I'm really in it for the fun. It may be that I'm just so bad (and know it) that paying attention to rank would be a fruitless effort. So, I play Matchmaking games and do, occasionally try to team up with my friends who are good in order to do well on those games. But I also play custom games and team training with those same friends, games that are played for fun. Let's face it, Matchmaking is not the "virtual couch" that Bungie was talking about. If you want a real "virtual LAN" experience, play custom games. I've spent quite a few fun hours playing custom games with like-minded individuals; it makes a nice change of pace from the high-pressure don't-let-down-the-team atmosphere of Matchmaking. (On the other hand, that atmosphere has added to how I play Halo. I never really paid that much attention to team tactics or organization before. Matchmaking makes that kind of thinking worthwhile. That's a plus in my book.) -Sep7imus |
